Exhibition Details

On the Centennial of the Battle of Çanakkale, the exhibit features photographs that immortalize once again the Çanakkale saga, one of our most glorious victories, with never-before-published photographs and articles.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

For the Turkish nation, the "Battle of Çanakkale" has unquestionable historic as well as symbolic significance. As the Battle of Çanakkale was one of the first steps that will lead to Turkey's winning its independence as it presaged the ideals of the future Republic of Turkey, and its essentially independent character. More than anything, it prepared Mustafa Kemal and his brothers-in-arms for the coming of the Turkish War of Independence, which began on May 19, 1919. In other words, it is testimony that independence can be gained with faith and courage, not just through economic strength.

Photos in the exhibit take us on a journey of imagination to the turning point of our history. It shows us concrete evidence of a glorious saga which most of us have ingrained in our hearts.
