Çerkes Karadağ, the world-renowned photographer, captured Izmir and its daily life from an "artistic perspective" for Folkart Gallery on the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Izmir. Çerkes Karadağ's photography exhibition titled "The 100's of Izmir" will be open to visitors at Folkart Gallery between October 8th and December 18th, 2022.
Folkart Gallery opens the 2022-2023 exhibition season on the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Izmir with the photographs of Izmir by Çerkes Karadağ, the world-renowned photographer. "We wanted to bring art lovers together with a special project for the 100th anniversary of the liberation of beautiful Izmir," said Folkart Chairman Mesut Sancak and added "Photography artist Çerkes Karadağ immortalized Izmir on the 100th anniversary of its liberation and left a meaningful note in history. As Folkart Gallery, we have realized a documentary project that will carry the present of the city to the future. I congratulate all those who contributed."
MEETING ON OCTOBER 8TH
Folkart Gallery is holding a special exhibition for the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Izmir from enemy occupation. The exhibition titled "The 100 of Izmir", consisting of Izmir photographs by world-renowned photographer Çerkes Karadağ, will be opened to Izmir residents and all art lovers on October 8th, 2022. The exhibition will include 100 works selected among 15 thousand photographs shot by Çerkes Karadağ during his months-long work.
All the photographs in the exhibition, whose Project Director is Fahri Özdemir, General Coordinator of Folkart Gallery, were shot in 2022, the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Izmir. Also, A special album of 300 pages in Turkish and English was prepared for the exhibition. In addition to Karadağ's photographs, the album also includes articles by journalist-writer Doğan Hızlan, art critic Evrim Altuğ, poet-writer Ahmet Telli, poet-writer Hüseyin Ferhad, and poet-writer Ünal Ersözlü, as well as some poems written for İzmir by famous poets.
